IESC launches AIM-IT program in Lebanon

IESC is pleased to launch its unique AIM-IT program in Lebanon, on April 19, 4:00 pm at the Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut. IESC, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has designed a cross-cutting program to transform information and communication technology (ICT) into Lebanon’s preeminent driver for economic growth.
AIM-IT Objectives
The Program’s main objectives:
* Prepare ICT firms for export and increase their export revenues
* Provide rural businesses and other users with affordable ICT access
* Demonstrate, through the tourism sector, ICT’s power to increase rural business competitiveness.
IESC and its partners will accomplish AIM-IT objectives through:
* Training and mentoring of ICT firms and other stakeholders in export standards, rules compliance and ICT trade negotiation
* Market access and linkage support in the U.S. and International markets
* Provision of affordable wireless broadband ICT access to 20 rural regions through the establishment of WISPs (Wireless Internet Service Providers)
* Tapping of ICT-driven revenue sources for rural tourism establishments through Internet Aggregators & Travel / Tourism Portals
* Introducing the ICT-driven innovation of GPS tourism
