Geekcorps Receives In-Kind Donation from Cisco for Lebanese IT Learning Centers

Cisco LogoIESC Geekcorps’ Lebanese ICT Academy program, called PICTA, is a cooperative effort between the Professional Computer Association of Lebanon (PCA), IESC Geekcorps, IJMA3, Mercy Corps, Audi Bank, Microsoft, Amcham, Intel, and now Cisco. Cisco recently awarded IESC Geekcorps with an in-kind donation of much needed equipment required to establish Internet connectivity for the PICTA Centers.

AIM-IT Clients Still Reaping Benefits as a Result of GITEX ‘06

AIM-IT LogoIn November 2006, IESC’s Access to International Markets through Information Technology (AIM-IT) program sponsored seventeen Lebanese ICT companies in exhibiting and participating in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX). The 26th edition of GITEX, one of the largest ICT exhibitions in the world, was held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

There have already been a number of client success stories as a result of the quality of technical assistance provided by AIM-IT, a USAID funded program, during the GITEX’06 exhibition. Ethos Knowledge Management Solutions is one such example.

TedGlobal Fellowship Awarded to Malian Geekcorps Volunteer

Geeks Have Landed in the Cape

iCommons LogoTwo Geekcorps volunteers have been hard at work in Cape Town, participating in the Digital Freedom Initiative (DFI) in South Africa, with a third Geekcorps volunteer arriving in early February. DFI is a new form of public-private partnership to promote the economic growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs in the developing world through ICT. Geekcorps’ participation in the program is funded by USAID.
