Last Tuesday, Geekcorps was named as a Cool Site of the Day by Kim Komando. Kim has a three-hour call-in talk radio show, heard on over 400 stations, and sends weekly newsletters with tips or Cool Sites of the Day to millions of subscribers.

The IT trade publication Processor.com published a short article on how IT experts can volunteer their time, or donate their money and used equipment. It mentions Geekcorps:

PC World: Geeks for a Good Cause

“Lebanon risks being left behind in the new global economy unless it develops an awareness of developing relationships between government and businesses,” a recent article in Lebanon’s Daily Star announces. In the article, IESC spokesman Mohsen Farran says that Lebanon’s IT and tourism sectors are particularly in need of assistance — exactly the areas that the AIM-IT program targets for improvement.

In the June 12, 2006 issue of Newsweek International, Benjamin Sutherland’s The Technologist feature focused on the do-it-yourself (DIY) technologist working in the developing world. The article discusses groups, like Geekcorps, that are adapting cutting edge technology to work with local resources, materials, and know-how. Sutherland even profiles Geekcorps and the locally produced (in Mali) BottleNet.
