To bring Lebanon into full participation in the world market, IESC Geekcorps has designed a cross-cutting program to transform information and communications technology into Lebanon's preeminent driver for economic growth. The Access to International Markets through Information Technology (AIM-IT) program seeks to:

Geekcorps and its partners will accomplish these objectives through AIM-IT's series of cutting-edge initiatives carefully tailored empower private sector firms across the entire Lebanese economy to tailor their goods and services for a global market, and will simultaneously introduce Internet connectivity to vast numbers of other public and private rural players. AIM-IT will also feature an advisory group of Diaspora technology experts to help guide all AIM-IT initiatives and identify sources of support

AIM-IT to launch first PDA Navigation Guide for Lebanon

Lebanon Tourism GuideThe AIM-IT program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the International Executive Service Corps (IESC), in collaboration with Lebanon’s Ministry of Tourism and Federation of Touristic Syndicates, is launching the first PDA Navigation Guide to tourism and eco-tourism sites in Lebanon, on July 10 at the Ministry of Tourism

The PDA Navigation Guide fully utilizes the power of ICT to increase the competitiveness of rural tourism by encouraging tourists discover landmarks and natural beauty hidden in rural and remote areas of Lebanon. The PDA Guide to tourism provides hand held digitized maps of Lebanon with directions and guidance to over 11,000 Points of Interests across Lebanon.

Empowering Lebanese ICT Companies with Hands-on Training

Steve PorterDuring two separate workshops in Beirut, Lebanon, IESC Geekcorps international volunteer expert Steve Porter delivered interactive hands-on training and simulation labs on Microsoft Visual Studio Team System Training, the latest Microsoft software project management tool, to participants from Lebanese ICT companies

Mr. Porter’s trainings are part of the capacity building activities within IESC’s Accessing International Markets thru Information Technology (AIM-IT) program. AIM-IT developed the Microsoft Visual Studio training in collaboration with Microsoft’s Developer Network and Microsoft Lebanon to:

  • provide the latest software project management methodology,
  • showcase practical know-how on using software management tools

Geekcorps Receives In-Kind Donation from Cisco for Lebanese IT Learning Centers

Cisco LogoIESC Geekcorps’ Lebanese ICT Academy program, called PICTA, is a cooperative effort between the Professional Computer Association of Lebanon (PCA), IESC Geekcorps, IJMA3, Mercy Corps, Audi Bank, Microsoft, Amcham, Intel, and now Cisco. Cisco recently awarded IESC Geekcorps with an in-kind donation of much needed equipment required to establish Internet connectivity for the PICTA Centers.
